Jimmy James was born and bred in Islington, North London. He started taking photos at the age of fifteen when he got a small sum of money and wanting to find something positive to do with it, bought an Olympus Om10 SLR camera, which is when the passion began.
Having studied photography for three years, including learning about film developing and processing. Jimmy continued to develop this further whilst sharing a darkroom with a few other photographers in Somers Town, Camden funded with aid from Camden Arts Council.
Since then Jimmy has worked for various magazines and newspapers, covering music concerts and fashion events. He has had work published in Mojo, G2, Observer Music Monthly, The Guardian, Q Magazine, The Times and NME to name just a few.
